Kaikai liked to "call" Papa and Mommy when Papa and Mommy were not at home

Mommy, just come back from work.
Kai: MOMMYYY…
Mommy: Kaikai. Papa work late tonight
Kai: WHY??? (he started to ask questions)
Kaikai want biscuit but Popo was not giving him as he would be drinking milk very soon.
Kaikai: Mumm Mumm 饼干
Popo: No! 要喝奶 了
Kaikai : (put up his index finger) One?
Popo: No.
KaiKia: Two?
Popo: No
Kaikai: THREE???
PoPo: NO!!!!!

Xuanxuan at 6 month, has became more naughty. At time she would refuse to drink milk and would push it away.Luckily she liked cereal. But I still wanted her to drink milk as that was her main energy source.

Just like Kaikai when he was 6 month, Xuanxuan liked to go out. Whenever we opened the door, she would jump up and down and if we did not bring her out, she would start to turn her month into an Up-Side-Down U and make noise. She wanna go out walkwalk.

Little updates of Kaikai's Milestone

Since May 2007, Kaikai was around 21 months. He would talk to himself before he sleep.

May 2007, around 21 months, Kai kai started his “1,2,3…” a few weeks later, he started to count steps when he walked up the stair. Now at 24 months, he has mastered the counting of “1,2…10” in both languages and MUST count steps when he walks up the stair or when he plays with his abacus, my bead necklace.

Jun 2007, at 22 months, we introduced DVD to Kaikai and he developed the liking to watch DVD with little kids dancing and singing. He loved to watch baby and little kids. Till now he still do not appreciate cartoon and shows.

Jun 2007, at 22 months, Kaikai started to learn brushing his teeth.

Jul 2007, at 23 months, Kaikai not only talk to himself, he hummed little songs (still could not say words) before he sleep.

Jul 2007, at 23 months, Kaikai learnt “A, B,C …Z” when he was happy. At times, he would sit on the floor, randomly point at the poster on the wall and said “A, B, C”, “Q, R, S” ,“O”, “M” BTW he did not point at the correct letter. His first three alphabet are “Q,R,S”.

Aug 2007, at 24 months, he still could not say the entire 26 Letters, but when we read with him, he could follow us easily, at times we would test him by stopping at certain alphabet and he could continue with the next alphabet. He is very comfortable till the Letter “S”.

My Little Parrot

Right now at 24 months, Kaikai could speak quite a lot of words but not sentences. His Mandarin is better than English, probably 婆婆, 公公 speak more to him than us. Yet cheeky Kaikai liked to repeat what we said. Here I captured some of the interesting conversation:

Mommy : Kaikai where is your spoon?
Kai: WHERE? (Shaked both his hands, and we never find that spoon)
Mommy : 凯凯你把杯杯放在哪里?
凯: 哪里?(Tilted his head one side. Luckily we found that cup)
Mommy: Kaikai what is your name?
Kai: Name (He would say Kaikai if he was in good mood)
Mommy: Kaikai you wanted to eat Banana?
Kai: Nana? (Stared at me)
Mommy: Kaikai your hand dirty, come, I bring you to wash your hand
Kai: (run to his Little Kitchen and press the tap) With a big grin, he said "Wash".

One late night about 12mid-night, Kaikai was lying on mattress, preparing to sleep. Xuanxuan woke out at this very moment and cry aloud. Curiously Kaikai stood up and watched, then he walked toward the bedroom door…
Mommy: Kaikai 你要去哪理?
Kai: 走走
Mommy: ?????? (走走?? In the middle of night… and better still, he answered me in such a adult manner)

Kaikai liked to ask the same questions almost everyday. He would list everyone in the family and ask those he did not see within his vicinity
Kai: Papa leh?
Mommy: Working
Kai: ING
Kai: Gonggong leh?
Mommy: 睡觉
Kai: 觉!!!!!
Kai: Popo leh?
Mommy: …… (Never ending questions)

Two little darling

Little Kaikai and Baby Xuanxuan

Kaikai doted meimei (Xuanxuan) a lot.

1. When Xuanxuan cried, he would bring pacifier, milk bottle or rattle to cheer her up.

2. Last week, Xuanxuan has a fever after injection, Kaikai observed how we nursed her. Two days later when Xuanxuan cried, he touched her forehead and said 烧烧 (actually xuanxuan was sleepy). Sometime he would say 妹妹 Ou qing (blue black).

3. Few days back, Xuanxuan shouted in car, Kaikai said "妹妹乖乖"

4. Kaikai liked to hug 妹妹. Recently I observed that he would share thing with Xuanxuan. However if he has one and only one, definitely that belonged to him :) Its a good sign of sharing.

These little acts showed how he loved his little sister.

Of course, there were accidents such as when he hugged xuanxuan, he ended up hitting her head and made her cried even loudler. When trying to cheer Xuanxuan up via rattle, he shaked too hard and it flied off from his hand and hit Xuanxuan again. sigh!!!

买CAKE!!!

This morning while I was looking at my wardrobe on what to wear for work (Yes, it was a Sunday and I need to work) I heard a little sound saying " 买 Cake" "买 Cake"... Kaikai was talking in his Sleep.

This was the first time I heard Kaikai talking in his sleep on something I could decipher. Ever since we celebrated his 2 years old birthday and we got him to be involved in preparation, he could remember where we got his cake and every weekend, he would say he wanted to BUY CAKE,买 CAKE, CUT CAKE etc.

Trial class at BJG

Went for Baby Jumper Gym trial class started at 5pm. This Gym is located at Bukit Batok West which took only 10 min of car ride. I got to know this Gym through my friend Siew Choo who has signed up a similar class for her son.

Mommy and Kaikai “go to school” together. Initially Kaikai was very apprehensive, ultimately this was his first contact with so many little ones (another 5 kids). He clung on to mommy so mommy let Kaikai sat on her lap, encouraged him to participate. After 45 mins of warming up, Kaikai was no longer worry, he started to sit on his own, read with teacher and stand up on his own. Kaikai walked to collect/return kits/things from his teacher independently. Just like another children, he would carry his own stool and return it after using.

He would say “thank you 谢谢” to teacher and smile happily when teacher say thank you to him.

One little cute thing Kaikai did and mommy wanna dropped down. When Mommy stood up, Kaikai thought we were leaving and mommy forgot to take her handbag and his water bottle, so he dragged mommy’s heavy bag and his bottle saying “mommy take, 拿”. Wow, this little boy really take care of mommy.

Ultimately, mommy was pleased with the session. This BJY focus on developing children’s right brain, they used a lot of flashcards, some music and movements (with couplets/phrases on flash cards), a bit on science, nursery rhymes etc. They told me they would focus on two languages. But their fees was more on the high side… timing is also another issue that mommy need to consider before signing Kaikai up.

Kai Kai's first Bus and MRT Ride with Mommy

Morning, when I brought Xuanxuan to Mom's place before proceeding to work. KW, told me mom was not feeling well. Mom wasn't looking good and she has to lay on bed due to dizzy spell. Both KW and myself could not take leave in the morning luckily Meng could and he would travel back from office (eventhough he just touched office when I called him). Morning, Meng went to clinic took a queue number for mum and I brought her to GP after I was back, this save us waiting time. She was dignosed with gastric flu. After injection, mom went back to rest.

That afternoon after feeding Kaikai I decided to bring him for a bus and MRT ride. Kaikai was so excited when I told him, he quickly changed his clothes and asked Gargar to help him wear shoes (he tried to wear himself but failed). Kaikai knew what a bus ride was as 舅舅 (KW) has brought him before, but not for MRT ride.

After settling Xuanxuan, we proceed to our ride. On the bus, Kaikai was so quiet and still, very differnt from his usual self. He simply sat there and watched people going up and aligning bus by flashing their EZ card. Slowly, he said softly to me that "uncle... aunty... up ... down", "money... clink...clink" (He learnt these from one of his favour nursery song " the wheel on the bus").

On reaching MRT station, I showed Kaikai how I scanned the EZcard and brought him to the platform. He clinged on to me and pointed at the coming MRT said "T... 来了". He stared at the train till it stopped infront of us and commented "大大...BIGGGG..". I was glad that he could apply what he has learnt daily to describe what he saw.

Happy that there wasn't big crowd. We managed to secure two sites for our own. Kaikai sat very still and quiet, I asked him if he wanted to stand up to watch the scence outside? He nodded his head and there he goes standing tall and watching the scence outside quietly. When we were in tunnel, quietly Kaikai sat down and looked at me, with a question on his face, he said "暗暗" and when out of the tunnel his face brightened up and stood up again. It was a happy trip to Woodland.

At causewaypoint, I bought Kaikai a pair of shoes chosen by himself and some kitchen accessaries for him to play. We have a similar happy trip home.

Once home, Kaikai told me he wanted to sleep and he slept immediately after I put him to bed.

It was a trip that none of us would forget, there were a lot of little things Kaikai said but I could not record all down. When I asked Kaikai whether he wanted to ride on bus when he wake up, he said loudly "YESSSSSS".

How time flies, Xuan Xuan is approaching 6 months old next week. It is time to start her with solid food.

Here are some pics of Kaikai playing with his some of his birthday gifts. The rest of the gifts were kept by mommy as these were advanced level and Kaikai was not ready yet.

Kaikai would used this vacuum cleaner to help 婆婆 "clean" her house every day. When he was in good mood, he would let Xuanxaun play with his helicopter and "showed" her how he played.

Last Sunday Papa didn’t have to work so he helped Kaikai to set up his “Play Kitchen” and Workbench.

This workbench was kept at our house. Every night and weekend, Kaikai would play with his hammer, screwdriver, spanner, bolts and nuts. Making noise of "construction noise" he learnt this "noises" from 婆婆's place as the Sec school next to 婆婆's house was under upgrading.

Till now, Kaikai still love playing with these two toys, he has reduced his frequency on playing with 婆婆’s kitchen utensils. Mommy was please as she has made a right decision to get these toys.

Kaikai is 2 years old today (exact day)

On 2 Aug 07, mommy bought another birthday cake for Kaikai, this time round, it was a pandan cake. Papa didn’t want cake to be too creamy since Kaikai has just gotten one last week.

After cutting cake on Sunday, Kaikai is an expert now. He knew this cake cutting and candle blowing business well. We sang birthday song for him then blew the two little candles. While mommy went to collect plates and Papa brought Xuanxuan to change diaper…., Kaikai took over the cake cutting task without supervision. I found that quite cute so I took down the pic… as long as he did not messy up the cake, I was fine.
